overview:
Rozerem™ is indicated for the treatment of
insomnia characterized by difficulty with sleep onset. Rozerem™ can be
prescribed for long-term use and is the first Non-Controlled
prescription sleep aid approved by the US FDA.
DIRECTIONS:
The recommended dose for Rozerem™is
8 mg taken within 30 minutes of going to bed. It is recommended that
Rozerem™ not be taken with or immediately after a high fat meal.
side effects:
If you experience an
allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling
of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives) stop taking Rozerem™ and seek
emergency medical attention. The most common side effects seen with
Rozerem™ are somnolence, dizziness, nausea, headache and fatigue. Side
effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor
about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially
bothersome. Rozerem™ is available as round, pale orange-yellow,
film-coated, 8 mg tablets, with “TAK” and “RAM-8” printed on one side.
warnings and precautions:
Patients engaging in
hazardous activities that require concentration (such as operating a
motor vehicle or heavy machinery) after taking Rozerem™ should be
avoided. Patients should be advised to exercise caution if they consume
alcohol in combination with Rozerem™. Patients should also be advised to
consult their health care provider if they experience worsening of
insomnia or any new behavioral signs or symptoms of concern.
INTERACTIONS
Rozerem™ should not be used by patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Rozerem™ should not be used in combination with Fluvoxamine. Rozerem™
should be administered with caution to patients taking less strong
CYP1A2 inhibitors. Rozerem™ is contraindicated in patients with a
hypersensitivity to ramelteon or any components of the Rozerem™
formulation. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with
Rozerem™. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any
prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins,
minerals, and herbal products.
